Solving the ‘pageok’ Error with GoDaddy WordPress Hosting

So you have just created your WordPress website and decided to give GoDaddy the privilege to be the host for your new website. Everything seems to be going fine, which may come as a surprise for you at first since there are so many variables that could go wrong when it comes to creating a website. But, after a day/week or so, every time you try to load your website up or the WordPress admin, all you get is a blank white screen with some small text in the top left corner of the screen, ‘pageok’. Unfortunately, it seems like there is not much help on the internet for such a problem and it also seems the problem originates to WordPress websites hosted with GoDaddy.

Fear not my friend. I have had the same problem and after talking to GoDaddy directly, I may have some information that can help you resolve the dreaded ‘pageok’ problem and solve it.

What causes the ‘pageok’ in the first place?

So when I explained the problem to the GoDaddy tech whiz on the phone, he did spend around half an hour finding the problem. Thankfully, he did find the problem.

When a website is hosted with GoDaddy, GoDaddy offers a domain name to point to the hosted website (which is probably common with all of the hosting websites). If the domain name points to the hosting website but the hosted website is not ready to show the website, the ‘pageok’ appears. This is because the domain is working and is point to the right hostingBut, the hosting is not yet ready to show the website. The ‘pageok’ simply signifies that you have reached the hosting at a minimum.

For my situation, the hosting was not ready to show the website because the hosting was linked to another domain. This can happen when you buy the domain separately to the hosting. So, this meant that the primary domain for the hosting was something random, while the domain I wanted to link the hosting to was classed as the temporary domain, with less authority.

How to fix the ‘pageok’ error?

Fortunately, the GoDaddy tech whiz fixed the problem for me so I didn’t have to do it myself (which would have probably seen me make more mistakes with IP addresses, CNames and so on…)

To fix the problem, the GoDaddy tech whiz simply removed the primary domain and replaced it with the temporary domain for the hosting. This meant that the hosting was correctly linked to the domain I wanted and stopped the problem from occurring immediately.

This may not work for everyone as it seems online that the cause of the pageok error could be one of many (with mine being just one of them). For example, it seems like new websites get it quite often (whereas mine has been having on/off problems with it for months).

What I would say, though, is to ring GoDaddy’s support center as soon as possible. They have a dedicated 24/7 team of experts that are there to help you with any problems associated with anything you have bought with GoDaddy. Just like it occurred for me, the chances are that they will fix the problem for you hassle free too!
