This phone was a replacement to my beloved ppc 6700, which I never had any problems with aside from the usb port breaking a couple of times and the device having to be replaced. I had no choice, the newer upgrade being the 6800 otherwise known as the HTC Touch Pro. Cool features, etc. etc...the lag is awful, it gets worse as time goes by. Internet sharing is what I rely on most and seizes up constantly causing me to have to reboot constantly. it doesn't disconnect as it should, you literally have to hard reset each time. all the same exact probs you described with answering a call, the volume...it's exasperating. i've not yet tried any utilities however and am here looking now to see if I can get any kind of improved performance at all. it sounds as though it wont matter much from what I've read in your post though. :( I couldnt agree more.
