I want to use msconfig to speed up my boot times. I’ve read elsewhere that I should disable everything that I can. But I’m worried that I will remove something I shouldnt!

Is there anything specific that I should leave running to make my computer still OK? I want it to boot faster though.

The beauty of MSCONFIG is that you can disable pretty much everything, and if it turns out that you made a mistake and disabled one too many things, you can always re-check it and it’ll start back up on the next reboot.

Things you’ll want to leave running are: Anti-Virus programs (unless it’s Norton then just uninstall that garbage), drivers for peripherals, (like your soundcard, etc) and other apps that you may just want starting. As mentioned only a couple of sentences above, you can disable most everything and if you’d like to put it back, you can easily enough.
