nForce Chipset Ethernet Card Won't Work With File and Printer Sharing
I'm usually a huge fan of nVidia and ASUS. ASUS has produced pretty much every motherboard that I've ever owned, and nVidia has been my graphics card chipset of choice ever since 3DFX went away. Normally everything goes perfectly with them, although that was not the case with a machine that I just recently built.
Just after the fresh install of XP Pro with SP2 integrated into it, the motherboard chipset drivers were installed. Right after this you'd figure that File and Printer sharing should work. Nope. Evidently you the nForce installer forces the nVidia firewall to be installed whether or not you want it to be, so be sure to click yes when it asks. After you click yes then later you will be asked if you want it to actually run. At this point you can click NO, because being behind a router, SP2's firewall, nVidia's firewall, and possibly Norton/McAfee's firewall, if you've got one of them installed, seems a bit redundant.
However, if you've already installed the drivers and cannot browse the network there is a solution. Go to c:\nVidia\
