Learn to Blog onto the Path to Success

When it comes to blogging online, it is an industry of which thousands, if not millions, of people are part of. The main reasons for this are because anyone can blog about anything, anywhere and at anytime. The sky is the limit to how successful a blog can be and it is that general freedom of thought that makes people so interested in becoming full time bloggers and writers. However, if you are looking to start a blog for it to become successful, it is not always plain sailing – I am the living proof of this. I have created around ten websites over the past five years and only five have them have gone on to become successful: that’s a dismal 50% success rate. To prevent others from having as bad a success rate with their blogs, here are some crucial tips I have learnt over the years which every successful blog has in common.

#1 Blog is About a Niche Topic

By far the most crucial tip I can give any blogger is that to make a successful website, make sure the website is about something niche and will bring something new to the internet. I know this is mentioned in a recent article but it needs to be iterated how important it is to a website to have it on a niche topic that is not already being blogged about yet.

The reason I say this is because if there is a website already out there that has the content out there too, you will find it hard to outrank them organically and will struggle to compete in the market against a website that has a ‘head start’ on SEO as compared to you.

As well as this, I almost look at starting a website that is similar to websites already out there as close to plagiarism as it gets without it really being plagiarism. The reason I say this is because, at the end of the day, the content you will produce for your website will already be out there on the internet, just worded a different way.

In order to be successful online, blog about a niche topic. For example, I have an interest for model steam engines called Mamods so I made a website about it: restoringmamods.com – as an extreme niche market, the website is very healthy and a market leader in Mamod restoration…all because of niche!

#2 Learn to Manage Your Time

When you first create a website, you can sometimes feel like you have a million and one things you need to do in order to get things rolling. Fear not my friend, you do have a million of one things to do. But, if you schedule to do them over a month, it will result in around ten minutes of work a day.

Therefore, I strongly advise anyone starting a website to make a plan of all the things they need to do to the blog in order to get it up and running. This will include the likes of adding social media integration, SEO, theme and design and so on… By splitting up the workload over a month will make it more manageable during the startup phase of the blog, enabling you to use your time more efficiently – this will encourage you and your website to continue the path to a successful blog.
