[How to] Make Blog Posts Seem Fun and Enjoyable Reads

In essence, the title of this article is a million dollar title. This is because if you can make every single article you make fun, enjoyable and even exciting to the web user as they read it, then you are definitely onto a winner. Not only will the pages per visit increase, social media traffic will increase as people share your articles out of enjoyment – actually, for that matter, just about every statistic associated with websites will improve when blog posts come across as fun, enjoyable and exiting. But, how do bloggers achieve this? Here is a quick run down of the main ways you can make your blog posts seem more fun, enjoyable and exciting to read from a web user’s point of view.

#1 Type Like You Would Talk

The number one way to make your articles more fun and enjoyable is to type like you would talk. By this, your writing style should mimic exactly the way you talk. There are many reasons why this will improve how your blog posts come over:

  • Web users will be more able to engage with you, like they are actually having a conversation with you.
  • It is a nice feeling to read something knowing fully well that someone on the other side has created it for your intentions in good spirit.
  • You could even make it come across with a little humour – this is generally how autobiographies entice people into reading them.

For example, if I wanted to, I could use vocabulary in this article that would be on par with an English degree (no biggy, just saying…). But, what would I achieve from that? Nothing. You probably wouldn’t know what it meant and I probably wouldn’t know either! Typing like you talk also helps portray your information in a clearer format to the web user.

#2 Structure Your Blog Posts

The main factor you are trying to overcome in boredom. We have all read articles on the internet that just upon first looks you think to yourself, ‘this is going to take up a good 3 minutes of my life reading this…is it worth it? Hmmm, not sure….I’ll click away and find something shorter with hopefully the same information in an easier-to-read format. Failing that, I’ll just procrastinate watching YouTube videos…’. The truth is that first impressions are absolutely everything online. Therefore, make sure you have structured your article in a format that will appeal to web users:

  • Have a short 100 word max introduction outlining your article’s intentions.
  • Have a image somewhere in the content (or multiple if you are feeling extra nice)!
  • Use headings for the start of paragraphs.
  • Do not make your paragraphs too long – break them up as much as possible.
  • Use bullet points and lists where and when you can.

It might just be me but this article could be a perfect example of how to come across fun and enjoyable…you can be the judge on that!
