How to Effectively Take a Break from Blogging

be-back-soon.png

For a lot of people, blogging is a great career path to pursue as it enables people to talk about things they love with work which is completely flexible to their lifestyle. However, it is not always plain sailing. Sometimes, you may feel you want a break from blogging or maybe, for a month or two, you simply do not have the time or drive to continue blogging – what are you meant to do? Here are a few tips to help you out if you want/need to take a break from blogging, without actually giving much indication to your audience that you are, in fact, taking a break.

#1 Schedule Articles

The best and most effective tip, if you want to take a break, is to schedule posts so that during the time you are having a break, you still have articles scheduled to publish. As a blogger myself, this is extremely useful especially if you know you have a holiday coming up or you know you are not going to have enough time one week to write articles.

#2 Update Old Posts

The only problem with the above tip is that in order to schedule posts, you need to write them and a hell of a lot of them too! If you are taking a two week break, you will need to write three weeks worth of articles in one week to schedule all of the posts! For some people, this just might not be possible.
For this reason, another way to take a break and reduce the workload blogging requests from you is to update old posts with new and extended information. For example, you could have an article that outlined three benefits and drawbacks to, say, a type of software you use for video editing. An option could be to update that article with a few more pros and cons and re-share it on all of your social media websites. Updating old posts will also improve the SEO ranking of that article so it will be a win-win situation.

#3 Hire a Temporary Guest Blogger

If you feel like you really do not have the time to schedule posts or update old posts in preparation for a break from blogging, you could always hire a guest blogger to temporarily fill in for you. With this, there are two options:

  • Pay for someone to work for you temporarily. Obviously this might not be the most preferred option since there is a cost associated with it.
  • Hire multiple guest bloggers. This might be the better option or you. However, the results are not guaranteed. There are thousands of bloggers out there that want to have the opportunity to blog for websites just so they can share brand awareness in the bio at the bottom of their guest blogs. If you can find several guest bloggers, that might be enough guest posts to cover your break away from blogging.
