How to Effectively Perform Email Marketing

As we know, there are many ways of marketing something online and email is one of these. The problem I find with email marketing, though, is that it is often associated with spam – hence why all of the major email providers have dedicated spam folders. Putting this aside, it is a huge market with a staggering amount of potential. In theory, you could be emailing out a promotion to millions of people who will all get a notification from their smartphone etc. that they have just received it – that is quite something to take advantage of. Therefore, here are a few points on how to effectively perform email marketing.

#1 Limit the amount of emails you market

Many email marketers tend to abuse the power they have. By this, I mean that if they have thousands of people signed up for email marketing, they will tend to use this to their advantage and bombard people’s inboxes with many emails knowing that thousands are going to have the emails in their inboxes.

This is not an effective way to email marketing.  The best forms of email marketing limit the amount of emails one does to their subscribers. From past experience, I find that a minimum of one and a maximum of three a week is a good number to stick to. If you go beyond three, it will start becoming a chore for subscribers to read your emails every other day which will encourage them to unsubscribe or not read any future emails from you.

#2 Offer something in your email

Another point to email marketing is that your email must always offer something to the subscriber. Do not ever email to get something from your subscribers such as a lead as this will only lead to people unsubscribing. This also makes clear that if you do not have anything to offer that is useful to your readers, don’t email them! You want to make sure you continue a prejudice stereotype associated with your emails that they are always useful and interesting to the web user. By maintaining this will ensure your emails are consistently read by your subscribers.

#3 Use a Personal Email

We all know them emails from marketers that are from ‘[email protected]’. From a subscriber’s perspective, this is not very nice to see. It is far more beneficial to create a email dedicated to email marketing which sounds like there is actually a human on the other end of it (and not just an an automated message from a robot). As well as making the email marketing more personal and engaging, it will make your subscribers develop a relationship with you, just like bloggers like to do this with their articles.

Although it would be beneficial to reply to any emails you get back to your personal-sounding email marketing email, this is not a necessity. The fact of the matter is that by having an email that sounds like a human will encourage your subscribers to stay connected to you, reducing the chances of your subscribers unsubscribing.
