The last few weeks have been hectic in the technological industry due to Apple updating their current line-up of devices in line for the fall and Christmas. There were many upgrades and new devices. However, the device that got the most attention was the Apple iPhone 6s. What are the new features it has? Is it worth the upgrade if you already own a iPhone 6? Hopefully these questions will all be answered in this article.

Here are the first impressions of the iPhone 6s outlining the main new features that it comes with.

3D Touch

The most exciting feature of the iPhone 6s is the 3D touch. This basically means the iPhone 6s comes with force touch which can measure the pressure you touch the screen to enable further features within the operating system. Some of the features include quickly calling someone by pressure touching the call app icon, previewing web pages and emails by pressure touching them and more.

It is a great addition to the iPhone which I am pretty sure will revolutionise the whole industry in years to come. However, what impressed me with 3D touch was the haptic feedback produced when you pressure touch the iPhone. Just like with the Apple Watch, it felt like the the iPhone makes a clicking sensation rather than a short vibration which feels much more appropriate upon pressure touching the screen.

Better Camera

The camera will always get upgraded every year with most smartphone manufacturers. The Apple iPhone 6s features a 12 megapixel camera that has the ability to also shoot 4K video. This is great news but not amazing news considering there are a lot of smartphones out there that already do this (such as the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge). The best bit about the new camera was the live photos feature, which takes pictures and records a few seconds of footage to associate with that picture. This is a really nice touch to personalise and bring to life pictures.

Added Speed

Of course, the iPhone 6s needs to have better specs if it is to go by the ‘s’ as standing for ‘speed’. It now features an A9 64 bit chip which has been claimed by Apple to increase CPU performance by 70% and GPU performance by 90%…wow and I did not think the iPhone 6 was a slow phone!

At the end of the day, it is worth an upgrade. I honestly think 3D touch is a great addition to iOS and the iPhone and will completely change the way people interact with their smartphones. So yes, you should get one because you only have to look at the past ‘s’ models to see how revolutionary they have been – Touch ID and Siri were first introduced on ‘s’ models too you know.
