I totally agree with what Fort Collins Computer Repair posted... The only downside to doing a clean install vs a repair is the fact that you will loose all the installed programs you have added from the previous install... I have found that if you use Malwarebytes with other tools like SuperAntiSpyware and Trojan Remover you can usually get rid of most viruses... This is of course only if you can download and or access them...

i've had the genuine version of windows, but my computer got a million viruses so i had to get it fixed, and when i got it back, everything had been taken off of it so i had to re-install windows (the same key as before). it worked, but after about a month, maybe two, it gave me this message saying my version of windows isnt genuine, well it is, cos i have the disc right here. but no. it keeps nagging me. and now it wont let me have any backgrounds, but instead replaces anything with a little message at the bottom of the screen saying this copy of windows isnt genuine.

any help? please???

Hey everyone...what you all are describing sounds like what happened to me.
I logged on to a wireless network that wasn't legit I think and the next time I turned on my comp I got the windows is not genuine message. I think that someone got to my computer through the faulty wireless network.
The only thing I'm wondering now is what to do about it...
If anyone knows could you email me? vfa1986@gmail.com

Thanks!

This is a problem that is wide spread. Like a virus. I was reading where all browsers were at rish from an attack that there is not fix for at the moment.
The mulware caputures your browser and make you click links that you not actually clicking and/or clicks links for you. This thing will even charge your credit card if the info is in your computer.
Maybe this is an add on the that problem.
I have done every thing everyone here has done and I am still having the same problem for over two weeks now.
It has gotten so bad that even my security updates can not update.
I think someone has figured out how to destroy a lot of computers all at once.

I like the idea of the integrated hard drive and Bradley is right on with putting the OS on the drive. Sounds great to me.

In the past, I was in favor of separate components so I would have control of what's in my pc but today and in the future, I see most computer manufacturers bundling systems and components together. They pretty much do this now, but we are starting to see new systems like the old imac in a flat screen touch model. This may be our future. Basically a 52" iphone.

The industry changes everyday..its exciting.

My PC does not let me download anything from the internet. I tried running my McAfee virus scan AND AVG scan but it does not let me run it. Right now I am trying to download a Dell restore driver but I am not able to do that since nothing can be downloaded.

Do you have any idea of what I can do?

Thank you

@Brad:

Actually, your idea was something that I had thought about some time ago myself as well. Years ago I would fantasize about peripherals that came with their drivers included within the device. You'd simply plug it in, and then would be able to instantaneously have the item work courtesy of the onboard driver.

I figure if they go about throwing on a drive large enough to have the OS on it they may as well make the solid state drive large enough to have your applications too. Files saved and whatnot (aside from regular docs) could be saved to a separate regular-ass magnetic drive. I do this already anyway; my OS drive has my apps installed, and I save everything for the most part to my 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black (which has great performance for a magnetic drive, BTW) disk.
