Dell A940 print jobs hang at 99% - Jobs stall in print spooler
To fix the problem of print jobs hanging in the print spool (Specifically if your Dell A940 finishes a print job, but then stops at 99% indefinitely), meaning that you look at the jobs to be printed and it says something to the effect of
deleting-printed next to the job, but it never goes away, follow these steps.
Click Start->Control Panel go to System. Within System click on the
Hardware tab and then the Device Manager button. Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus Controllers, and click the + next to it. It should expand. Find
USB Printing Support, right click on it, and tell it to uninstall. It may pop up a couple of warnings, ignore them, and when it's done go ahead and let the machine restart.
When it boots back up it should go through XP's usual found new hardware process, automatically reinstall the USB printing support, and then re-setup your printer. You may need your printers driver CD handy.
Once all finished, then try to print a test page. It should work, however, if it doesn't I've heard that AOL can cause issues with the printing, so if you've got it installed (and if you have a Dell, HP, etc, you probably do) then completely uninstall it and see what happens.
