7 Quick Twitter Tips Anyone Can Use

When it comes to making the most out of social media marketing, it can be quite a daunting task knowing how to optimize every little detail to a social media platform to make sure you are maximizing the potential out of that platform for your personal and/or business profiles. For this reason, here are 7 quick tips anyone can use to help them make the most of out Twitter and maximize their online presence on the social media platform too.

  1. Limit the amount of tweets with links – By doing this, you make the tweets which have links seem more valuable which will help increase the click through rate of such links on tweets.
  2. Use keywords – Twitter has a search engine to search for tweets just like Google search engine searched for articles online. Therefore, always make sure you use 1-2 keywords in your tweet that is relevant to what you are talking about, be it as standard text or a #hashtag.
  3. Don’t abuse #hashtags – Talking of hashtags, it is far to easy to use 2 or 3 hashtags as many Twitter users feel the more hashtags they use, the more people that will see the advert. To some extent, this is true since the tweet will be listed under each hashtag it mentions. However, having more hashtags will decrease engagement of the advert. So, in actual fact, more hashtags are not good – keep to using a maximum of 2 (or just one when you can).
  4. Schedule tweets – There are peak times during the day and week where the majority of people are online updating their timelines, such as at lunch and just after 5pm (when the majority of people finish work) and at 8pm (when people are chilling out at home). For this reason, look to schedule your tweets, if you can, to go live at these times.
  5. Retweet/Quote tweet others – You can only have a large online presence if people value your tweets. If you simple tweet out your own content all the time, people will get into the habit that your tweets are just from you and are just your opinions. For some people, this might be okay. But, to gain the most online presence, think about your followers and retweet/quote tweet other tweets which you find useful/cool/interesting and think your followers will too.
  6. Use images – Images are worth a thousand words. Considering we have a limit of 150 characters for tweets, it is sometimes more effective to illustrate your tweet in the form of an image. As well as being easier for the Twitter user to digest, it can sometimes get the point across better too.
  7. Monitor your stats – With Twitter, it is all about experimenting and seeing the results of how your experiment went. For example, you may have gained a 30% CTR on links at 8pm and, from experimenting, a 50% CTR by just scheduling your tweet for ten minutes after 8pm – you would have only have known this from experimenting!
