For this reason, it is important to make a good first impression and have a homepage that encourages the web user to stay on the website. In order to achieve this, you should have a homepage optimized to keeping web users on your website and encouraging them to explore it – here are some ways to do this.

 

 

Keep it Clean

Cluttered homepages only work in specific situations, such as for the likes of big superstores like Amazon. Taking this type of business out of the context, and homepages should be kept simple and clean.

The attention span of web users online is very short. It only takes a few seconds for a web user to develop an opinion of a website and its design. The cleaner the look is, the more likely the web user will stay on the website.

 

 

Use a Call to Action

No matter what your website is about, there will be some sort of action you will want the web user to perform on your homepage to make the most of your website. Such examples of an action to complete by the web user include:

An important part to the homepage is to make sure that there is a navigation menu on it, preferably at the top. This should allow the web user to access any part of the website in a quick and easy manner.
