4 Reasons Why the Samsung Galaxy S8 is Not Worth Buying

It goes without saying that the Samsung Galaxy S8 is a truly amazing phone. The screen on it is Image result for samsung s8something to want on your own phone and the speed of the processor, design, UI, camera and everything about it makes it something many people will desire. However, is it worth buying? It could be an amazing phone in one aspect, but it still has its flaws. Here are some flaws to the Galaxy S8 which will be reasons to not buy the S8.

  1. Fingerprint sensor placement. With the bezels being eroded down at the top and bottom of the device, the fingerprint had to be moved to the back where there was space to put it. However, instead of putting it somewhere where the user’s finger is likely to rest on the phone (just like LG do on their smartphones over the last few years), Samsung have opted to place the fingerprint sensor to the right of the camera, which is a real stretch for anyone on the S8 and near on impossible on the S8+! It’s a really simple mistake to make, which we can only hope won’t cause too many problems if the new face recognition is as good as the reviews on it that it will replace the fingerprint sensor for security on the S8.
  2. Battery size. The S8 rocks a 3000mAh battery which, for a phone with a much larger screen, is a little disappointing. Recent trends provided by Motorola (with their ‘Play’ phones) and Lenovo (with the P2) suggest that people do not care as much about performance as about having a phone that will last them a long amount of time, at least a day. For those that have had Galacy S phones in the past, it is common for them to take a charger into work or place of study simply because their batteries would be drained before 1pm! With an average size battery for the S8, I unfortunately can see the battery problem to continue with Samsung phones.
  3. Bixby. To some extent, you could put this as a reason to buy the S8. However, as much as it is good that Samsung have developed an artificial intelligence, is it really going to ever be as good as Google Assistant? Samsung seems to think so and has even dedicated a button on the side of phone just to Bixby. But, Google Assistant is inbuilt into the Android system the S8 uses. Therefore, at least users will get the best and choice of both worlds.
  4. Price. Starting at £689 in the UK and $750 for the US, this is alot to ask for a phone that still has a few faults. If it did not have the above faults, then yes, the S8 could be argued to be worth that much to purchase. However, the fact of the matter is that it still has problems with the design and hardware which does not warrant the high price Samsung is asking.
