4 Questions to Ask to Determine Your Website’s Success

Image result for question

When it comes to creating a website, there are many things you can base the success of yourImage result for question website on. Hopefully, before you started, you would have had some idea as to what direction you wanted your website to head and at what rate too. However, it can be far too easy to forget about milestones, targets, aims and objectives and to just live each day of your website as it comes flying past. With this, here are some questions you can ask yourself every now and then (and by every now and then, between 6-12 months apart) to determine how much of a success your website has been and is. With each time you answer the questions, you can look back at your previous answers to see how much your website has matured in the time between your answers.

#1 How many blog posts did you publish?

The root success of any website is in its content, especially when looking at it from a SEO organic perspective. The number of blog posts you publish will directly affect your website’s traffic and success. Therefore, if you have found you are not posting enough or in short bursts but not consistantly, then you may think that, to benefit your website, it would be worth employing a skilled freelancre to help delegate some fo the content creation to them.

#2 Has Your Traffic Increased?

Traffic is an extremely important statistic for websites. Based on the past 6-12 months (or whatever time gap you are applying between asking yourself these questions), have you seen your website’s average traffic increase? If so, that is great and it shows progression which is what we all want. If not, then you need to ask why this is the case and get to the bottom of it. Once you have done this, you should be able to get your website back on track in terms of traffic generation.

#3 What was your net profit?

With this question, you will also need to ask yourself two other separate questions:

  1. How much did the website cost over the time period?
  2. How much revenue did the website produce over the time period?

Although it is not always applicable to deem your website’s success on the net profit, it will give you a good indication for future cash flow how much it is costing your website to get to a certain level of, e.g. traffic.

For example, most websites that first start will be in debt due to the start up costs associated with websites. This is especially the case with content mills which rely on revenue generation through long-term SEO traffic.

The main point of this question is to allow you to stay ontop of your website’s finances.

#4 Are you happy?

This is, by far, the most important question to answer. If you are not happy with how things are or are losing motivation to continue your website, you should stop. Don’t ever feel forced to do anything you don’t enjoy. After all, websites are long term investments and nobody wants to do something they do not enjoy for a long amount of time. If this is the case, think about selling the website or outsourcing the work.

If you are happy, that is great! Keep going!
