3 Ways to Monetize a Traffic Generating Website

money-online.jpg

There are several well-known ways to generate revenue from a website that generates traffic consistently. However, determining what type of revenue channel to go for is very much dependant on what niche you are targeting, the type of web users that come to even your site even down to the type of theme you have adopted for your website. Taking all of this into consideration, here are the main channels that you should try if you are looking to make money from a website in descending order of best.

#1 Google Adsense

Let’s not beat around the bush when it comes to the best program to use. Millions of people use Google Adsense worldwide (with myself being one of them). Google Adsense provides publishers to the widest pool of advertisers to bid for their advertising spaces, there is the most amount of help regarding Google Adsense and its optimisation online and, not only that, it generally does have the highest RPM (revenue per 1000 impressions) out of all of the programs that generate revenue from traffic.

#2 BuySellAds

From my experience of trying out many different ways to make money online, I can safely say that BuySellAds comes in at a distant 2nd to Adsense. What is great about BuySellAds is that they provide a wide advertiser pool that will be interested in purchasing ad space on your website for a monthly fee. What I found to be best about BuySellAds is that it enables you to generate revenue from areas of your website you would have thought could not ever generate revenue. With this thought in mind, BuySellAds and banner advertising works perfectly in harmony with Adsense, helping to ‘fill in the gaps’ and spaces that Adsense can’t generate revenue from (either because it simply does not perform well or you are using the maximum of three adverts already).

#3 Related Posts

Although I don’t really want to include this as number three for this article, the fact of the matter is that related posts and sponsored content are becoming very popular online for the simple reason that they make cash.

We have all been on websites for an article and have ended up clicking onto another article because of sponsored content and then another article and then another article…

Although it is not as bad as spam, I still disapprove of sponsored content and related posts because they are cheaply gaining clicks by having ridiculous headlines with eye-catching images to entice the web user. Upon clicking onto the article, you will tend to find that the article is not as exciting as you had first imagined. But, since you have come this way, you carry on reading, well, clicking ‘Next’ to read the article (where to read the full article takes 10-20 clicks on ‘Next’).

Rant over, sponsored content and related posts really do make quite a lot of money and will not affect your website’s performance too much. This is because sponsored content, when used correctly, will be at the bottom of articles after your content has been read by the web user.
