3 Things To Do As Soon As You Create A Website

There are many articles online which help those that are looking to create a website, hit the right niche and understand just exactly what makes a successful website. However, let’s put ourselves in the shoes of someone who has just come up with their website idea and has bought the domain and hosting – what are website creators meant to do as soon as they have bought their website’s domain name and hosting? With this in mind, here are three things to do as soon as a website’s domain name and hosting have been bought.

#1 Submit Your Website to Search Engines

The first and immediate step to take is to submit your website to search engines so that they can begin to index your website to enable your content to appear on search engine results.

Now, you can probably find a few articles which state that you should index your website after a few months of creating content. However, the problem with doing this is that your website does not get indexed as soon as you request it – it can sometimes take months for Google and other search engines to even recognise your website as a website. For this reason, it is much better to index your website as soon as possible, in preparation for there to be delays to crawlers looking for your website.
For the majority of search engines (such as Google, Yahoo and Bing), you can simply find out how to submit your URL to each one by typing into each search engine ‘submit URL’.

#2 Buy a Theme

As soon as you have sorted out your hosting and domain and have submitted your URL to all of the major URLs, the next step is to sort the theme of your website out – the easiest, most convenient and professional way to do this is to simply buy a theme already created. This way, you can make sure more of your time goes to the important things when you first create a website, such as making content.

#3 Set Up Social Media Channels

A successful website will always have social media integrated deep in it be it with share buttons and with social media channels on all of the main social media platforms. These include:

  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • RSS (if that counts as a social media channel)
  • Google +

Of course, you can choose to have more social media channels than the above. But, if you want to kick off your website in the right direction, the best thing to do, in terms of social media, is to create accounts in each of the above social media platforms for your website and integrate them into the theme of your website.

At the end of the day, starting a website is always going to be a long and difficult process. However, by breaking up the processes that you need to do as a website creator, it should make this process that bit easier and more understandable so that it does not seem as daunting as it possibly did before reading this article.
