There are, what seems like on the internet, a million and one ways you can improve the way you write and structure a blog post to increase the search engine ranking of that post. For example, on TweaksforGeeks, we have many articles in the SEO section looking to reduce notorious mistakes in SEO and looking to help bloggers improve their writing skills too. One area that is never really covered that well with regards to SEO is with including an image in a blog post. Truth of the matter that including an image in a blog post has many benefits, for which I will go through the main ones below.

#1 There’s a Shift to Images

Whatever market and website you look at online, you will see that there is a huge interest in making websites look more visually stunning – the same applies to blog posts too. Yes, content will always rule at the end of the day. However, images are becoming a key part to blog post since a lot of what can be said in blog posts can also be described surprisingly clearly with just one image. Maybe it is because people can read and understand images a lot easier than content that there is a shift towards using them more? Either way, it goes without saying to include one or two in blog posts.

#2 Image Search Results

For those that want to gain traffic from search engines, you will understand the concept that by publishing content, you will get that article crawled by robots to rank your article on search engines. By including an image will enable that image and your content to be crawled for image search engines, which is a huge source to gain traffic from.

For example, on one of my websites (AskWillOnline), some of my best articles actually gain more traffic from image search results than standard search engines! Without an image, you are severely limiting the search engines that can crawl your content.

#3 Images Improve Most Website Stats

Forgetting about SEO, an image will do your website a world of good because people like looking at images – fact. Therefore, if you have two webpages identical and one has an image just below the first paragraph and the other does not, you can pretty much expect every statistic on the website with the image will be better than the website without an image, such as the bounce rate, exit rate, time on site, pages per visit and more.

Ultimately, images can do your website a great amount of good in terms of search engine ranking as well as improving the overall experience the web user has on your website. For this reason, try to get into the habit to include at least one image in every article and, by doing this, you will open your website and articles to a whole new world of crawlers, ready to crawl through the article to rank your image on image search results for the whole world to see.
