3 Mistakes to Not Make As A Blogger

Unfortunately, there are still many bloggers out there that are not making the most out of blogging. When I first got into blogging, I thought the sky was the limit. I got this idea because, in essence, every single article you publish onto the worldwide web has the potential to stay up on the internet for years and years and years and years and years. Back onto the point, though, the problem with some bloggers is that they are still making potentially rookie errors without knowing it that will affect how successful their blogging career will be for themselves and their website. For this reason, here are some mistakes you should not be making as a blogger (and if you are, snap out of bad habits and stop doing them)!

  1. Do not write like a robot – An important rule to being a blogger is to make sure you write like you speak. At the end of the day, nobody likes talking to someone who sounds robotic. I have stopped counting the amount of times I put down the phone when I hear a robotic voice at the other end of the line – the same applies to blogging. If the web user cannot engage with you as a person or blogger like they are sitting in a coffee shop having a drink talking things over with you, they are likely to leave the page. Make all of your articles have that personal touch like I did with the second sentence of this article.
  2. Do not blog about something already out there – I guess you can say it is harder to become a blogger nowadays because there are more and more websites being made every second covering the same topics. The general rule is that if it is out there already, there is no point for a blogger to write about it as you are not going to get a good amount of organic traffic from it and Google may look at it as plagiarism. Therefore, always try to add something niche to every single articles so they will always be new and different to the rest of the internet.
  3. Proof read your articles – One of, if not the, most common mistake made by bloggers worldwide is the ability to forget to proofread an article before publishing it online. A simple typo or spelling error makes a huge difference since if it has a spelling mistake or typo, the web user will lose patience thinking the article is not professional and will exit the page. Therefore, always make sure you proof read every article you produce – there is no worst feeling than getting a comment on one of your articles highlighting a typo or spelling mistake that you missed out proofreading. As well as embarrassing, it looks very bad on your part to be publishing content with mistakes littered throughout it!
