10 Google Blogger Platform Tips

Already I have listed the main pros and cons to using Google’s Blogger platform. For those that chose to use Blogger over WordPress, you may know how to optimise a website. However, using Google’s Blogger to the best of its abilities is another thing entirely. For this reason, I thought it was a necessity to outline some of the tips I have picked up over time of using Google’s Blogger. It can be a relatively simple program to use that is if you want it to be. Here are 10 Google Blogger platform tips anyone can use.

1. Make sure both Analytics and Adsense are linked to your Blogger account as this will make your life so much easier when it comes to monetizing and analysing your website.
2. Do not use Blogger’s templates as these are usually very simple and do not look professional enough. Instead, Google search ‘premium blogger templates’ and this will give you access to tens of websites that let you download templates that are professional looking, premium and just as good as any WordPress template design out there.
3. Do not look at your statistics every day in Blogger! It is a bad habit that can waste 20 minutes of your time a day!
4. Add a domain using the inbuilt blog address area in settings on Blogger. If you create a custom domain through blogger, it will be much easier to install it onto your website than if you bought it separately and not through Blogger.
5. Link your Google + account to Blogger so that your Google + account can automatically share every article you publish.
6. Learn HTML. Yes, the layout section lets you customize the look of your header, sidebar and so on. However, to really have full control over your Blogger’s template, learn to customize the HTML through the Template and then ‘Edit HTML’ section.
7. Every now and then, look at the search keywords people are using to land onto your website organically. If they are different to that of the articles on your website, you know there is a market to create an article to answer the rogue search keywords.
8. Every now and then (once a month), look at the top five most successful articles that are gaining you the most traffic and improve them. Make sure there are no errors or typos in the content and include a few more internal links within the article so that you can try to keep more traffic on your website for longer.
9. Don’t track your pageviews so that the statistics you are seeing are more accurate.
10. Under settings and then privacy, make sure you have selected the option that allows search engines to see your website (otherwise you will not be visible to the organic world)!
